In this Hitchcock-style thriller based on a true story, Sheri hires a young nurse to care for her elderly father at their Malibu estate, but soon begins to believe the nurse is a serial killer.

SYNOPSIS

Based on a terrifying real life crime story, Elena is pretty, charming, smart and seems like the perfect caregiver for Sherie’s aging father … but something is horribly wrong. Debilitated and unable to speak, Sherie’s father “Pops” requires special care, and Elena comes highly recommended. Elena quickly charms Pops and Sheri finds herself increasingly isolated from her father.

When Sherie's neighbor Mercedes apparently commits suicide next door by jumping from the roof of her spectacular cliff-side estate named “Bare Necessities,” Sherie’s suspicions run wild. She turns to a young police detective she thinks she can trust, Rory Kilborn, a celebrated “hero cop” after his performance during a Santa Monica Pier shootout, to investigate her worst fears about Elena.

The relationship soon turns to romance and Sheri, emotionally vulnerable and fearful as Pops health takes a turn for the worst, finds herself dependent on a man she hardly knows. What follows is a complex web of shocking twists and turns that make it impossible for Sheri to determine who she can trust and who is guilty of deceit.
